Contestant Information

The Jennings County Fair Queen Pageant Committee and Queen Team would like to congratulate you on your decision to participate in the 2008 Miss Jennings County Fair Queen Pageant! Our Committee's goal is for each contestant to enjoy their experiences as they participate in this year's pageant. Some of the activities will include Mock Interviews and a retreat get-a-way where guidance will be given for proper professional and evening wear as well as instructions on walking, turning and sitting properly.  We will also have the traditional sleepover and will be participating in the Railroad Days Parade! Our goal is to offer to each contestant an opportunity to learn skills that can be applied to their personal lives.

Each Contestant is responsible for a $75 entry fee. Your entry fee must be paid at the Mother/Daughter meeting on May 18, 2008.  The $75 may be collected from several resources if you choose. You may collect from your parents, relatives, businesses, etc.  Collect the fee from the resources that are easily available to you.  If you cannot find the funding for your entry fee, then a committee member will assist you in finding a donor.  NO ONE will be excluded for not being able to collect their entry fee!

You will need to complete the ENTRY FORM to participate in the Pageant.

In order to participate in the Pageant you must attend the Mother/Daughter meeting on Sunday, May 18th at 2:00 p.m.  The information session should last about an hour.  Plan to spend an additional 30 minutes completing forms and actually registering for the Pageant!  We will hang around afterwards to answer questions!!

This is a MANDATORY meeting that allows the Committee to give in-depth instruction on the judges applications, appropriate dress, behavioral expectations and other aspects of the Pageant.  Please make plans to attend if you want to participate in the 2008 Pageant!!

Each Contestant will receive a FREE Pageant T-Shirt.  Additional Pageant T-Shirts will be available for friends and family to order.  The T-Shirts will have all the names of the 2008 Contestants listed on the back!  So, it's a wonderful keepsake!!  You must order them no later than the Mother/Daughter meeting!  So, ask your family NOW if they want one!  Each t-shirt costs anywhere from $12 to $15 (depending on size).  Payment is required at time of ordering!

The 2007 Jennings County Fair Queen Pageant was a wonderful success and we're expecting a bigger and better Pageant for 2008!!

Below is some information that you need to be aware of if you are a 2008 Contestant!  Please take a minute to read through the information!

Contestant Information

  1. Instructions concerning walking and turning will be given prior to judging.  However, please practice walking and turning before the contest.  It would be wise to see yourself walk, then you will know if your posture is good, shoulders are back and head is up.  Also, find a comfortable way of moving and holding your hands.  At our practices many of your "walking" questions will be answered.

  2. High-heeled shoes with a 2-1/2 to 3 inch heel will flatter your leg and figure as well as make you comfortable and confident while you are walking.  Practice walking in your shoes to make you feel at ease in them before the contest.  You will need the shoes you will wear in the pageant at all practices.

  3. Make-up for the stage should be slightly heavier than everyday make-up.

  4. Contestants are encouraged to attend all functions preceding the pageant.  Please communicate with a pageant committee member if you have a conflict with any of the dates.  We try to be as flexible as possible, but we do require attendance at the dress rehearsal.

  5. The Queen and Miss Congeniality must be willing and able to participate in the Jennings County Fair.  The court may have a few responsibilities as well.

  6. The queen must also be willing and be able to compete at the Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant August 6-17, 2008.

  7. The contestants are judged on the basis of poise, personality, and ability to converse.  The judging is divided into three divisions.
